It took Crystal a long 4-day hike, and a trailer ride just to get to Thebes. She had heard that there was a large farm in it's outskirts that has a few horses for sale. She really needed a steed. She was sick of hiking on foot, and besides, she had planned to travel away from Greece in the near future. She could not do that on foot.
Besides, she needed the company. Crystal finally made her way into the horse stalls, where she found a famer shoveling hay.
"Hi..." Crystal waved awkwardly, as she helped herself in.
The farmer looked up. "Hello, ma'am! What can I do for you?"
"I'm here to buy a horse. Along with the sadle and bridle. What do you have for sale?"
"Glad you came here! I only have three for sale at the moment. It's breeding season now, so it's the current load, so to speak, "The farmer indicated with his hand the three stalls, "Feel free to take a closer look. There is a beauty in the corner there. Well behaved, a bit stubborn, a quite a smart one, too."
Crystal was curious about this horse. It reminded her of herself. She, too, was stubborn. She made her way past the other two horses. One was a hazlenut mare, another was black and white, and the one in the corner was a black male horse. Crystal instantly fell in love with it. She bought it straight away with dinars she both earnt, bartered with and stole, along with the horse supplies.
Gleaming with excitement, she rode the horse out of the farm. She was told that the horse was bred with a Spartan warhorse. Crystal knew those horses were strong-built, and fast. In fact, she grew up on a farm, with the family horse. One that was owned by her father, and together would they ride off to war. She was willing to do the same.
She decided to name the horse, Rubeus.
